The other day as I was making my favorite spicy mayo for trash sushi dipping purposes I realized that I simply cannot exist without Kewpie mayo. I have it every single day: stirred into some bomba calabrese with my eggs, mixed with hot sesame oil and togarashi for my sushi, inside my ham/pickle roll-ups… Kewpie mayo is the single constant in my life and I do not want to exist in a world without it.*
So I wanna know - what’s the one ingredient YOU can’t live without?
Soy Sauce!! It’s such a versatile ingredient!! I always have a bottle in my house! You can use it by itself or turn it into teriyaki sauce, or use it in Asian stews and soups! It’s a great marinade sauce or dipping sauce! I can’t live without it!! 🙏🙏🙏
lemon is a great one. kewpie is..idk. it's like, more savory, more rich...it's hard to even explain! the japanese version has MSG in it which is also why it's so delicious. but the one available at like, Costco is their American version and it's not the same (no MSG). I get mine at Asian markets
I truly think my answer has to be salt. I love butter, mayo, garlic, pasta, etc, but to me, I really can’t enjoy anyyyyything without a healthy dose of salt
Garlic 100%. I always double the garlic in any recipe lol
it hurt me to not put garlic first. but i'd say that my favorite ingredients are always in flux
saaaaaaame, this was my first thought for sure
Is it cheating to say cheese? All the cheese all the time.
i'd say pick ONE cheese !!!
Fair. I'd have to say Cheddar cheese but that's a tough one as I love all my cheese children equally.

What is different about kewpie mayo?
Aside from those mentioned I would say lemon is my must have ingredient. Zesty. Juicy. It adds such life to things!

So interesting. It makes me curious about adding msg to homemade mayonnaise. I make my own when we have fresh local eggs and I love the flavor
Rice wine vinegar! Lao Gan Ma! Garlic is always a must too!!
100% also kewpie mayo - it's so versatile!

NOTHING tastes good without salt. It gets a free pass simply because it's essential
